pos
pursuit; after
preposition POHS Rare
Origin: From Latin post, 'after, behind'.
Usage Note
Pos appears almost exclusively in the fixed phrase en pos de, meaning 'in pursuit of' or 'after': correr en pos de algo (to chase after something). Outside this idiom it is archaic. In very colloquial Mexican Spanish, pos is also a shortened form of pues used as a filler — a completely different, spoken register.
Examples
"Salió en pos de la verdad."
Natural Translation
She went off in pursuit of the truth.
