Usage Note

Ejercitar means to train or exercise a skill or part of the body, and is slightly more formal than hacer ejercicio. It is a regular -ar verb. When the object is a body part or ability, a reflexive construction is common: ejercitarse en la paciencia ('to practise patience'). It should not be confused with ejercer, which means to practise a profession.
