Also means
zealous; protective
Usage Note
Celoso/celosa covers both romantic jealousy (está celoso de su pareja, 'he is jealous of his partner') and the older sense of being zealously protective or diligent (celoso de su trabajo, 'zealous about his work'). The plural celos ('jealousy') is usually used in the plural in Spanish: tener celos ('to be jealous'), dar celos ('to make someone jealous'). Envidia is a false synonym — it means 'envy' (wanting what another has).
Examples
"Se puso celoso cuando ella habló con él."
Natural Translation
He became jealous when she spoke with him.
