preciar

to pride oneself

verb preh-syahr Rare

Also means

to boast

Usage Note

Preciar is almost always used reflexively as preciarse de — 'to pride oneself on' or 'to boast of' something: se precia de ser honesto. In this reflexive form it carries a slightly self-congratulatory tone and is more formal than presumir de. Non-reflexive preciar meaning 'to appraise' is archaic and rarely encountered in modern Spanish.

Examples

"Se precia de nunca llegar tarde."

Natural Translation

He prides himself on never being late.
