mucho

much; a lot

adverb MOO-choh Common

Origin: From Latin multum.

Also means

many

Usage Note

Mucho functions as an adverb when modifying a verb or adjective (trabaja mucho, mucho mejor), in which case it is invariable. As a determiner it agrees in gender and number: muchos libros, muchas personas. The shortened form muy ('very') is a separate word used only before adjectives and adverbs, never alone.

Examples
