Mucosa is the technical anatomical term for a mucous membrane lining a body cavity. In everyday speech mucosidad (f) or mocos (m pl, informal) refer to the secretion (mucus) rather than the tissue itself. The adjective form mucoso describes anything mucous or mucus-producing.
