miércoles
Wednesday
noun MYEHR-koh-lehs Less Common
Origin: From Latin Mercurii dies, 'day of Mercury'.
Usage Note
Miércoles is invariable: the plural is also miércoles (los miércoles). Like all days of the week in Spanish, it is masculine and written in lowercase. The written accent on the first syllable is essential — without it the word would follow standard penultimate stress but the accent marks the esdrújula (proparoxytone) stress. El miércoles = 'on Wednesday'; los miércoles = 'on Wednesdays'.
Examples
"Nos reunimos todos los miércoles."
Natural Translation
We meet every Wednesday.
