Usage Note
Levantar has a wide range: to lift a physical object, to raise one's voice (levantar la voz), and — reflexively — levantarse means 'to get up' (from bed or a seat). Levantar sospechas is 'to arouse suspicion', and levantar una prohibición is 'to lift a ban'. The reflexive levantarse for getting out of bed is the everyday term learners encounter first.
