Usage Note
Cita has two distinct everyday senses: a scheduled meeting or appointment (tengo una cita médica, I have a medical appointment) and a quotation from a text or person (una cita de Cervantes, a quote from Cervantes). It also means a date in the romantic sense (una cita romántica). Context is almost always enough to distinguish them.
