Usage Note

Amargado describes a person made bitter by disappointment or resentment — closer to 'soured on life' than merely tasting bitter (for which amargo is used). It is the past participle of amargar used as an adjective, and the feminine form is amargada. In colloquial speech estar amargado is the standard construction.
