to adjust
Usage Note
Acomodar means to arrange, seat, or accommodate — acomodar a los invitados ('to seat the guests'). Reflexively, acomodarse means to settle in or get comfortable: se acomodó en el sillón ('he settled into the armchair'). In Latin America it can also carry the colloquial sense of pulling strings to get someone a position (le acomodaron un trabajo), implying nepotism.
Examples
"Hay que acomodar los muebles antes de la fiesta."
Natural Translation
We need to arrange the furniture before the party.
