verb sahn-HAHR Rare

Origin: From zanja (ditch).

Usage Note

Zanjar means to settle or resolve a dispute, disagreement, or issue definitively: zanjar una discusión (to put an end to an argument). It does not mean to dig a ditch (that would be cavar una zanja). It conjugates as a regular -ar verb; the z is seseo /s/ not /th/.
