Also means
utmost
Usage Note
Sumo is a literary or formal synonym for 'supreme' or 'greatest': con sumo cuidado ('with the utmost care'), sumo sacerdote ('high priest'). It is unrelated to the Japanese sport sumo, a separate loanword that happens to be spelled the same. In everyday speech máximo or mayor are more common; sumo sounds elevated outside set phrases.
