suficiente

sufficient; enough

adjective soo-fee-SYEN-teh Less Common

Usage Note

Suficiente is invariable for gender (tiempo suficiente, energía suficiente) but agrees in number (datos suficientes). As an adverb, suficientemente means 'sufficiently'. The phrase ya es suficiente ('that's enough') can signal irritation or finality. Do not confuse with bastante, which is more colloquial and also means 'enough' but doubles as an intensifier ('quite').

Examples

"No hay suficiente tiempo para todo."

Natural Translation

There is not enough time for everything.
