resumir

to summarise

verb rreh-soo-MEER Rare

Also means

to abridge

Usage Note

Resumir is a false friend for English speakers: it does NOT mean 'to resume' (that is reanudar). Resumir means to summarise or condense. The noun resumen (summary, abstract) is similarly a false friend with English 'resume' (curriculum vitae), which in Spanish is currículum or CV.

Examples

"¿Puedes resumir el artículo en dos frases?"
