Referido is used in formal writing to point back to something already mentioned: el referido documento (the aforementioned document). It is the past participle of referir used as an attributive adjective. In legal and administrative Spanish it is very common as a neat substitute for mencionado or citado. In conversational Spanish it would sound oddly stiff; learners should reserve it for written registers.
