Precipitar means to cause something to happen suddenly or prematurely (precipitar una crisis), or in chemistry to precipitate a substance. The reflexive precipitarse means 'to rush' or 'to act hastily': no te precipites ('don't rush into it'). In weather, precipitación is the noun for rainfall or precipitation.
