Usage Note
Precedido is the past participle of preceder used as an adjective, meaning that something came immediately before. It commonly appears in formal or journalistic contexts, e.g. precedido de una gran expectación ('preceded by great anticipation'). Do not confuse with presidido ('presided over'), which differs by a single letter.
Examples
"El acto fue precedido de un minuto de silencio."
Natural Translation
The event was preceded by a minute of silence.
