persuadir

verb pehr-swah-DEER Rare

Also means

to convince

Usage Note

Persuadir typically takes an indirect object plus de or para followed by an infinitive: lo persuadí de que viniera (I persuaded him to come). It is slightly more formal than convencer; in casual speech convencer is more common. The reflexive persuadirse means to become convinced.
