Peluquería covers both a hairdresser's salon (peluquería de señoras) and a barbershop (peluquería de caballeros). The person who works there is el/la peluquero/a. In Spain a high-end salon may be called salón de belleza or estética. The word comes from peluca ('wig') via pelo ('hair').
