Usage Note
Pastor means both a shepherd (literal) and a Protestant pastor or minister (religious). The feminine is pastora. Perro pastor (literally 'shepherd dog') is the general term for sheepdogs and herding breeds. In Catholic contexts cura or sacerdote is used for a priest, not pastor, which marks a Protestant affiliation.
Examples
