mudar
to move, to change residence
verb moo-DAHR Less Common
Origin: From Latin mutare (to change).
Also means
to shed (feathers, skin)
Usage Note
Mudar means to move house or to change in a broader sense; the reflexive mudarse is the standard way to say 'to move (home)' in most of the Spanish-speaking world (me mudé a Madrid). It also means to shed—snakes mudan la piel (shed their skin), birds mudan las plumas (moult). Do not confuse with mover (to move something physically).
Examples
"La familia se mudó a un barrio más tranquilo."
Natural Translation
The family moved to a quieter neighbourhood.
