almacén
warehouse
noun ahl-mah-SEN Less Common
Origin: From Arabic al-majzen (storehouse, treasury).
Also means
department store
Usage Note
Almacén has two common meanings: a large storage warehouse, and (especially in Latin America) a general store or small supermarket. In Spain, grandes almacenes means 'department stores'. The plural almacenes is regular, but note the accent drops (almacén → almacenes) as stress naturally falls on the penultimate syllable.
Examples
"Guardaron la mercancía en el almacén."
Natural Translation
They stored the merchandise in the warehouse.
