Usage Note
Momentáneo describes something that lasts only a moment — a pain, a lapse, a signal. It is stronger in brevity than breve (short) or temporal (temporary). Note the written accent on the á, which also shifts stress to the antepenultimate syllable (mo-men-TÁ-neo), placing it in the esdrújula (proparoxytone) group alongside many -eo/-ea adjectives.
Examples
"Sintió un dolor momentáneo en el pecho."
Natural Translation
He felt a momentary pain in his chest.
