Usage Note
Actualidad refers to the present moment or current state of affairs, not 'actuality' (which is realidad) — a classic false friend for English speakers. En la actualidad means 'currently' or 'at present.' La actualidad also refers to current events (programas de actualidad = news and current-affairs programmes).
Examples
"En la actualidad, el desempleo ha bajado."
Natural Translation
Currently, unemployment has fallen.
Literal Translation
In the current-time, the unemployment has fallen
