cloak
Usage Note
Manto can refer to a ceremonial cloak worn by a religious statue of the Virgin Mary, a geological mantle layer, or poetically a broad covering (a manto de nieve, a blanket of snow). It is more literary and formal than manta (blanket), which is everyday. The geological manto terrestre is the standard term in Spanish-language earth science.
Examples
