Usage Note

Latitud is the geographic coordinate measuring north-south position on Earth. Like most nouns ending in -tud, it is feminine: la latitud. The plural latitudes is used both in geography and figuratively to mean 'regions of the world' (en estas latitudes — 'in these parts').
