honradez

honesty, integrity

noun ohn-rah-DES Rare

Usage Note

Honradez is the abstract noun from honrado (honest, upright) and denotes moral integrity in personal conduct. It should be distinguished from honestidad, which overlaps but can also mean sexual modesty in older usage; in modern Spanish the two are often interchangeable, but honradez more specifically implies trustworthiness with money or obligations. The final -z changes to -c- before -es: honradeces (rarely used).

Examples

"Su honradez nunca fue puesta en duda."

Natural Translation

His integrity was never called into question.
