fúnebre
funereal
adjective FOO-neh-breh Rare
Origin: From Latin funebris (of a funeral), from funus (death/burial).
Also means
mournful
Usage Note
Fúnebre describes anything relating to death, funerals, or a deeply gloomy atmosphere — marcha fúnebre is a funeral march, coche fúnebre is a hearse. The accent on the first syllable is essential: it makes the word an esdrújula (stress on the antepenultimate syllable). The word is invariable in gender: un silencio fúnebre, una atmósfera fúnebre. In colloquial use it simply means extremely gloomy.
Examples
"La música fúnebre llenó la iglesia."
