Usage Note
Escritorio means both a physical writing desk and, in computing, the desktop (the screen background where icons sit). The computing sense is standard across all Spanish-speaking regions. It comes from escribir ('to write'). Do not confuse with escritura ('writing/scripture') or escrito ('written document').
