to lay down
Usage Note
Acostar is a stem-changing verb (o→ue): yo acuesto, tú acuestas, él acuesta. Transitive acostar means 'to put someone to bed'; the reflexive acostarse means 'to go to bed / lie down'. Acostarse con can also mean 'to sleep with (someone)' — be mindful of context. Don't confuse with acostumbrarse ('to get used to').
