reduction
Usage Note
Disminución is a formal noun meaning a reduction or decline in quantity, intensity, or value: una disminución de los precios ('a fall in prices'). It is derived from disminuir ('to decrease'). The plural disminuciones loses the written accent because stress falls naturally on the penultimate syllable. In informal speech bajada or reducción are often preferred.
Examples
"Hay una disminución en el número de visitantes."
Natural Translation
There is a decrease in the number of visitors.
