Despejar covers several senses: clearing a space (despejar el área), clearing the sky (el cielo se despejó), and in football, clearing the ball away from goal. The reflexive despejarse can also mean 'to clear one's head' or 'to clear up' (of weather). In weather forecasts, cielos despejados means 'clear skies.'
