Usage Note

Conversar implies a relaxed, reciprocal exchange and is a step more formal than charlar (to chat) but less so than dialogar (to dialogue). It is a regular -ar verb. In Latin America conversar is the everyday word for having a conversation; in Spain hablar or charlar tends to be used instead.
