Contundente describes an argument, victory, or blow that is overwhelming and leaves no room for doubt (victoria contundente = resounding victory, argumento contundente = crushing argument). In legal language instrumento contundente refers to a blunt object. It is invariable for gender (una respuesta contundente) but takes plural -es.
