comunicar

to communicate

verb koh-moo-nee-KAHR Less Common

Also means

to connect (roads, places)

Usage Note

Comunicar is used for transmitting information (comunicar una noticia) and, reflexively, for being linked (las dos ciudades se comunican por tren). The reflexive comunicarse specifically means to get in touch with someone. Do not confuse it with informar, which is more formal and one-directional.

Examples

"Es difícil comunicar ideas complejas."

Natural Translation

It is difficult to communicate complex ideas.
