Also means
to squeak
Usage Note
Chillar describes a high-pitched, piercing sound made by people (screaming in fear or excitement) or objects (brakes squealing, mice squeaking). It is more grating in connotation than gritar (to shout); chillón (shrill, loud) derives from it. In parts of Latin America it also means to cry or whine.
