Usage Note

Bar is the standard word in Spain for a café-bar where coffee, snacks, and alcohol are all served — very different from the English concept of a pub. In Latin America bar is also used but cantina or taberna may be preferred regionally. As a unit of atmospheric pressure, bar is the same as in English.
