Usage Note

Asentar is a stem-changing verb (e→ie in stressed syllables: asienta). It can mean to settle a community, to set a foundation, or to record an entry in accounts. The reflexive asentarse is used for a group or person settling in a place (se asentaron en el norte). Don't confuse with sentar (to seat someone or to suit/fit).
