Also means
to liken
Usage Note
Asemejar means to make something similar, or in its reflexive form asemejarse a to resemble something — se asemeja a su padre ('he resembles his father'). The non-reflexive transitive use ('to liken A to B') is more formal and literary. For everyday use, parecerse a is the more natural choice; asemejar(se) signals a slightly elevated register.
Examples
"Este cuadro se asemeja a una fotografía real."
Natural Translation
This painting resembles a real photograph.
