ansioso

anxious

adjective ahn-SYOH-soh Rare

Origin: from Latin anxiosus

Also means

eager

Usage Note

Ansioso covers both negative anxiety (worry, nervousness) and positive eagerness (estoy ansioso por verte = I am eager to see you). Use estar with ansioso to describe a temporary emotional state; ser ansioso suggests a habitual, anxious personality. The feminine form is ansiosa; the related noun is ansiedad (anxiety). Do not confuse with angustiado (anguished), which is more intense.

Examples

"Estaba ansioso antes del examen."

Natural Translation
