Usage Note

Alfabéticamente is used when describing an ordering or arrangement by the letters of the alphabet. The related adjective is alfabético (orden alfabético). It contrasts with cronológicamente (chronologically) or temáticamente (thematically). In Spanish, alphabetical order follows the Spanish alphabet, which historically treated ch and ll as single letters; since 1994 they are sorted letter-by-letter as in English.
