Alarmar is a regular -ar verb. The reflexive alarmarse means to become alarmed or to take fright. The noun alarma gives the verb its form; the compound alarma de incendios (fire alarm) is widely used. Be aware that alarmar focuses on causing worry, whereas alertar (to alert) is more neutral.
