Usage Note
Abrir has an irregular past participle: abierto, not abrido — a very common learner error. It applies to doors, shops, accounts, and conversations (abrir un debate). The reflexive abrirse can mean to open up emotionally. Note that shops 'open' with abrir but 'close' with cerrar, both regular in the present except the stem change cierro for cerrar.
Examples
"Por favor, abre la ventana."
