Usage Note
Trampa covers both a physical trap (for animals) and a figurative trick or scam. Hacer trampa is a very common colloquial phrase meaning 'to cheat' (in a game, exam, or relationship). The verb trampear exists but hacer trampa is by far the more natural expression.
Examples
"El cazador colocó una trampa en el bosque."
Natural Translation
The hunter set a trap in the forest.
