Also means
immersed, engrossed
Usage Note
Sumergido is the past participle of sumergir ('to submerge') used as an adjective. It agrees in gender and number: sumergida, sumergidos. Figuratively it expresses deep absorption: sumergido en sus pensamientos ('lost in thought'). Do not confuse with hundido ('sunken'), which implies irreversible sinking rather than temporary immersion.
Examples
"El submarino viajaba sumergido a gran profundidad."
Natural Translation
The submarine travelled submerged at great depth.
