Usage Note

Subtropical describes climates or regions just outside the tropical belt, typically between 23° and 40° latitude. It does not change form for gender but adds -es in the plural: regiones subtropicales. In Spanish geography, the Canary Islands and southern Andalusia are often described as having a subtropical climate.
