Usage Note
Ring is an anglicism used throughout the Spanish-speaking world to mean the raised platform where boxing or wrestling bouts take place. It is masculine: el ring. The plural is invariable (los ring or los rings). In Spain and some countries cuadrilátero is the formal alternative, but ring dominates in sports journalism and broadcast commentary.
