Retrasar means to delay or put back (retrasar el vuelo — to delay the flight). The reflexive retrasarse means to be late or fall behind (se retrasó el tren — the train was delayed). The noun is retraso (delay). Distinguish from atrasar, which in some varieties means the same but also specifically means to set a clock back.
