Usage Note
Regulativo is a formal adjective used in legal, philosophical, and administrative discourse. In Kantian philosophy it describes a principio regulativo — a regulative principle that guides inquiry without constituting knowledge of reality. It should not be confused with regulador (regulatory in the administrative sense, e.g. an organismo regulador). The feminine form is regulativa.
